CHERRY MX Low Profile RGB SPEED
Fast mechanical switch for low-profile gaming keyboards
Auerbach, 25 October 2018 - CHERRY, the market leader and expert in mechanical switches in keyboards, expands its MX Low Profile RGB series with a brand-new SPEED model. This new mechanical switch offers the same flat construction and familiar MX switch characteristics but uses a silver stem with a very short travel, which results in a faster actuation and higher switching frequencies. MX Low Profile RGB SPEED enables lightning-fast input, providing gamers with a decisive advantage in their virtual battles.
Compact format with familiar characteristicsAt CES 2018, CHERRY introduced its MX Low Profile RGB, a newly developed mechanical switch which is significantly more compact than regular switches: with a height of only 11.9 millimeters, the low-profile model is around 35 percent flatter. The major challenge in the development of this switch was to create a similar typing experience to the high-quality CHERRY MX switches that consumers were used to. This goal has also been achieved with the new MX Low Profile RGB SPEED switch.
Short travel for high switching frequencyCHERRY MX Low Profile RGB SPEED has been designed for the highest performance, with a reduced travel of 1.0 millimeters instead of 1.2 millimeters. The low actuation force of 45 centinewtons and the linear actuation remains identical. With these specifications, the new switch offers extremely low reaction times and high switching frequencies on input. Gamers, as well as writers, will benefit from the combination of the short switch travel and low key height.
Highest quality „Made in Germany“Like all other CHERRY switches, the new MX Low Profile RGB SPEED is fully manufactured in Germany. The switches utilize CHERRY's exclusive, highly accurate and durable Gold-Crosspoint technology, which uses gold contact points that are self-cleaning and resistant to corrosion. This not only ensures the highest reliability and precision but also guarantees a lifespan of over 50 million actuations with no loss of quality.
Housing optimised for lightingCHERRY MX Low Profile RGB SPEED features a transparent housing that has been optimized for SMD LEDs. The compact light-emitting diodes sit flat on the PCB, which ensures a lower overall height of the entire keyboard. It also enables a uniform illumination of the entire key cap, allowing for a luminous representation of the full 16.8-million-color RGB spectrum.
CORSAIR as exclusive partnerCHERRY has signed an exclusive partnership with CORSAIR for the new SPEED switches. The first mechanical gaming keyboard to use these new switches will be the CORSAIR K70 RGB MK.2 LOW-PROFILE RAPIDFIRE, which features a very slim design with a height of only 29 millimeters to seamlessly complement any modern gaming setup. Other key features are a robust frame made of anodized aluminium, a dynamic and extremely bright RGB backlight including iCUE software control, various multimedia keys, a removable soft-touch palm rest, and interchangeable key caps.
